Accessibility Statement

The standard we build to

Every site we build targets WCAG 2.1 at level AA, including this one. That is a published standard rather than a claim, so you can check it.

What is in place on this site

• Colour contrast measured rather than guessed, and measured against the lightest point of the page gradient rather than an average. Body text sits at 9.6 to 1, secondary text at 8.2 to 1, and the accent at 6.7 to 1. The floor for AA is 4.5 to 1.
• Every function reachable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring on each one.
• A skip link to the main content as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
• Real headings in order, and landmarks so a screen reader can jump between navigation, content and footer.
• Decorative shapes hidden from screen readers rather than read out as noise.
• Reduced motion honoured completely. Turn it on in your system settings and every animation stops, with all content shown in its finished state. Turn it back off mid visit and the motion returns.
• Touch targets of at least 44 pixels on touch screens.
• The background video on the home page is never downloaded on phones or under reduced motion. Those visitors get a still mark instead, and the page is complete without it.

Where it falls short

Being honest is more useful than claiming a clean sheet.

• This site has not yet been tested with a screen reader by somebody who uses one daily. Our own testing is not the same thing, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.
• Text over the home page video was measured across nine points of the loop, not one frame, and the worst frame governs. That is the right method, but the video is decorative and we have not tested it with every kind of vestibular sensitivity beyond honouring reduced motion.
• The comparison table on the pricing page scrolls sideways on narrow screens. It is reachable and readable, but it is not the most comfortable way to read a table.

If any part of this site is hard to use, email Octanadx@gmail.com and we will fix it. Include what you were trying to do and what happened. We treat accessibility problems as bugs, which means they get fixed rather than added to a list.
