About

A studio built around one shape.

Octana Dx builds websites. The way we do it comes out of the mark on this page, and it is about both sides of a project finishing satisfied rather than one of them winning.

The mark

Two rings. One is you, one is us.

Look closely and one ring passes in front of the other. It reads cleanly because a gap was cut before they ever met. Take the gap away and you get two shapes fighting over the same pixels.

That is the whole method. A project has two sides wanting different things: you want it to do more, we want it to stay something we can build well and keep running. Neither side wins by squeezing the other. The gap is us deciding, before we start, where each side gets its room.

How the studio is set up

Small on purpose.

One person per project.

Whoever answers your first message designs it, builds it, and is still on the other end of that thread afterwards. There is no handover because there is nobody to hand it to.

A few projects at a time.

We book a small number of launch dates each quarter. That is why a date can be promised, and it is also why we sometimes say the next opening is a month out.

Nothing sent out of the studio.

No white labelling, no subcontracting your project to somebody cheaper. If that ever changed, you would hear it before signing.

Plain files, not a platform.

Your site is HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a folder. Any developer alive can open it. You are not renting your own website back from us.

What we will not do

The short list.

Every studio has one. Most keep it quiet until you are already three weeks in.

  1. 01Quote before we understand what the site has to do.
  2. 02Hold your domain, files or hosting in our name.
  3. 03Sell you a rebuild when a small fix would do.
  4. 04Promise search rankings, which nobody can promise.
  5. 05Go quiet.

Come and test all of that.

A few messages is enough to find out whether any of this page is true.
